The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Government has said that the GGCA statement is a “misrepresentation of events” and an attempt to “confuse people into believing their irresponsible walk out was remotely justified.” Government says it regrets and rejects the “crude and untrue allegations” made by the GGCA.
The GGCA has said that Minister Isola has plans to “break” the Information Technology and Logistics Department (ITLD) and that these plans have been in motion since January 2017, when the first transfer of an ITLD officer to the Digital Services Team was effected, “in breach of the ITLD Revised Agreement.”
