European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for ForeignAffairs José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels on Thursday 16th May.
The GSD says it is concerned at the GGCA allegation that some senior officers have been awarded a 10% pay rise under the guise of a “responsibility allowance”. This at a time, says the party, when Sir Joe Bossano has warned that the cost of the public sector is “unsustainable” relative to the private sector and the Government introduced a pay rise cap in the 2018 Budget.
Together Gibraltar says that the Government is continuing their “prolific expansion” of the construction trade in Gibraltar with the Victoria Keys development but without “giving due concern” to environmental effects and by “not adhering to promises of financial transparency.”
The GSD has today expressed concern at the power outage that has affected Main Street and noted that it is the second time in as many weeks that this area has been affected by a prolonged power failure.
