The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The GSD says it has noted the comments by Unite the Union and the relevant contributions made by Elliott Phillips MP on the debate on the Tobacco Bill yesterday.
The Gibraltar Pro-Life Movement (GPLM) has expressed its concern at Unite the Union’s “position and influence” in the abortion debate, an issue which the movement says is “beyond their remit as a workers’ union” and one which it claims the union “have not consulted with their membership.”
Unite the union has said that, at a time when extreme right wing politics is “flourishing” in Europe, it views with “extreme concern” the comments made by the leader of opposition, Elliott Phillips, during yesterday’s parliamentary session.
The Chief Minister has urged both Remain and Leave supporters to sign the petition to revoke the Article 50 notification in order to “take back control” of Brexit.
