The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
Together Gibraltar says it would like to express its “anger and frustration” at what it regards as the “constant attempts by Government to silence NGOs and civil society groups that, in the exercise of their duty and their freedoms, do not wish to toe the GSLP line.” The party says that, to try to nullify the observations of the Special Needs Action Group, an NGO that has been doing enormously valuable work to support children with SEN and their families, only because members of the platform have political affiliations, “is nothing short of political repression.”
The Gibraltar Contingency Council chaired jointly by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and the Governor Vice Admiral David Steel, convened in person this afternoon at No 6 Convent Place. Staff at the Information Technology & Logistics Department (‘IT&LD’) will refuse to undertake discretionary overtime, whilst reserving the right to escalate into industrial action measures if necessary as part of a dispute declared between the GGCA union and the Government.
