May Day, also known as Workers’ Day, is a special date in the calendar for Trade Unions as we commemorate the struggle of all workers that have taken part in hard-fought battles in pursuance of workers’ rights.
The following is the May Day message from Christian Duo, Unite the Union’s Acting Regional Officer:
Once again we are delighted to be able to celebrate Workers Day on May 1st, after having successfully campaigned for the restoration of this important event. This is a significant date in the Trade Union calendar as we commemorate the historic struggle of working people throughout the world.
Tyrone Tellez, aged 27, of Portmore House, Glacis Estate, appeared at the Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with Driving whilst over the Prescribed Limit and Possession of a Controlled Drug.
Tellez pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined £300 and disqualified from driving for 15 months for the charge of Driving Whilst over the Prescribed Limit.
As part of the Royal Marines 350th Anniversary celebrations a number of Royal Marines are taking part in the ‘1664 Challenge’. The Challenge aims to raise £500,000 for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
