The Government says it has already set out its position on the subject of the Christmas and New Year’s Eve events at the Tercentenary Sports Hall but feels it must again clarify its position given what it describes as “absurd” and “unsubstantiated remarks” made on last night’s Newswatch by a member of the GSD Executive.
The Chief Minister, has, pursuant to his request under section 15(1) of the Police Act, received an initial factual assessment report from the Gibraltar Police Authority of the selection weekend recently carried out by the Royal Gibraltar Police. The selection process had led to a complaint being addressed to both His Excellency the Governor, Sir James Dutton and the Chief Minister from one of the applicants for selection.
During a Customs operation in the area of Emmerson’s Place yesterday afternoon, HM Customs Officers seized a total of 60,000 cigarettes. A vehicle was also seized.
