The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
In a further attempt to clamp down on tobacco smuggling the RGP has recently carried out a number of separate operations. In the first case a 20 year old resident of La Linea was arrested in the area of Devil’s Tower Road and 7600 cigarettes were seized.
The second arrest involved a 55-year-old resident of La Linea who was found to be in possession of 2800 cigarettes. Both men are currently on police bail.
Last weekend, the Med Rowing Club participated in the British Rowing Championships held in Nottingham. The Club achieved outstanding results, namely Jessie Borg and Colin Tester who won gold and their coach, Stuart Bensadon.
Local chess prodigy Stephen Whatley, 12, will take part in the centenary edition of the British Chess Championship taking place in Torquay, England from Friday July 26th.
