The Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce recently met with the senior executive of the Gibraltar International Bank, they believe that despite the considerable scale of the task for the executive team, which includes Chief executive Lawrence Podesta and Derek Sene, the team appears ‘undaunted by the challenge.’
The GSD has claimed that, with regards to the recent announcement on the EU Fraud Office’s tobacco smuggling investigation they will not react to ‘apparently sensationalist reports without first considering the source documents on which they are based’. Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham has asked for a copy of the report, from the Government, having also spoken to the acting Chief Minister, Gilbert Licudi on issues arising from the report.
Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar has transmitted its deepest concern to the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office over the incident in BGTW last weekend involving a Guardia Civil vessel attempting to exercise executive action over a Gibraltar pleasure craft. A statement by No.6 has asked the FCO to take immediate and firm action on this matter.
