The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
The ESG says it wishes to take up an important issue raised during a recent GBC interview with Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Joseph Garcia regarding the expected completion date of the new power station.
The Government has noted with astonishment the expression of disappointment by the GSD over the new rules on legal aid published last week. The administration believes that the GSD ‘appear to fail to understand that these rules and the new rates have been agreed with the Bar Council as representatives of the legal profession.’
The Government says that it considers the latest statement by the Opposition on power generation issues to be the “height of political opportunism and hypocrisy.” The reality, it says, is that the problems in electricity generation and distribution that Gibraltar has experienced “stem directly from their own mismanagement of the issue during the nearly sixteen years that they were in Government.”
