The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
Opposition spokesman for Justice, Financial Services, Planning, Traffic and Transport, Selwyn Figueras, will be seeking updates from the Government at next week’s session of Parliament in respect of a number of matters.
In respect of the Justice portfolio, Mr. Figueras has sought details from the Government about the costs, so far and ongoing, of two of Gibraltar’s highest profile matters: the legal proceedings stemming from the collapse of the law firm Marrache & Co and, more recently, the Giraldi Enquiry.
The Royal Gibraltar Regiment Association (RGRA) held a farewell dinner for His Excellency the Governor Vice Admiral Sir Adrian Johns and Lady Johns at the Rock Hotel Rib Room Restaurant, recently.
Event organizer Bernard Graffione noted, ‘both His Excellency and Lady Johns have been very supportive of the RGRA during their time on the Rock and have visited the Association on numerous occasions. We wanted to give them a wonderful evening as a way to say goodbye and express our thanks’.
Addressing the United Nations Fourth Committee yesterday in New York Chief Minister Fabian Picardo touched upon the notable 50th anniversary of former Chief Minister Sir Joshua Hassan’s speech to the Committee of twenty four, on the same issue, decolonisation.
Mr. Picardo was joined by Ministers Gilbert Licudi and Dr. Joseph Garcia, as well as a selection of A Level students, who he insisted, were chosen to attend the meeting because of their interest in the importance of the work of the United Nations.
