The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
Saturday 25 May 2024 marks six years since the EU General Data Protection Regulation (the “EU GDPR”) came into force. Whilst largely similar, the EU GDPR was superseded by the Gibraltar General Data Protection Regulation (the “Gibraltar GDPR”) on 1 January 2021, providing a comprehensive and modern framework for the local data protection landscape.
In his last official act as Governor before his departure, Sir David Steel invested Mrs Gaynor Vatvani and Mr Terence Lopez with the Gibraltar Award. Approved by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 1957, it is awarded to recognise those who have rendered loyal and valuable public service worthy of special recognition, or those who have, by their loyalty and meritorious conduct, been of exceptional benefit to the people of Gibraltar. The medal is known as the Badge of Honour.
The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB) hosted the 2024 Business Innovation Awards last night (21st May) on the rooftop of the Eliott Hotel. The event celebrated the innovative spirit of Gibraltar's business community.
