The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
The Chief Minister has described as ‘disgraceful’ the actions by the Spanish government which have prevented the Gibraltar Rugby Football Union from joining the European Rugby Association.
Although Gibraltar achieved a straight majority of votes at last Saturday’s FIRA Conference in Stockholm, it did not achieve the necessary two-thirds majority.
The Spanish broadcaster Cuatro last night showed a documentary on the tobacco smuggling trade between Gibraltar and La Linea. The controversial 'Diario de... a pie de calle' featured footage of smuggling gangs throwing boxes of cigarettes over the frontier fence into Spain. There were also images of people strapping numerous packets of cigarettes to their waist under their clothes before making the risky journey through the Spanish customs control post.
Minister Linares has sent a message of best wishes to the coach of the Gibraltar Under 18 Girl’s Hockey Selection currently playing in the Euro Hockey Nations Championships III in Croatia.
Launching the 2013 Summer Sports and Leisure Programme this afternoon, Regional Director of NatWest Gibraltar, David Bruce, along with Sports Minister Steven Linares and CEO of the GSLA, Joe Hernandez, promised that this year’s scheme would ‘bigger and better’ then ever before.
The scheme, which has proved immensely popular amongst youngsters in former years, will not only provide an extensive selection of sporting activities to entertain school children during the Summer holidays, but will also include new workshops with the Royal Gibraltar Police, Childline and the Alameda Gardens. The programme also boasts a Stagecoach Theatre Arts Summer School.
