The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
Customs yesterday arrested 19 Spanish nationals and 1 Romanian in an operation targeting the illegal exportation of cigarettes via the eastern coastline.
A total of 28,620 cigarettes were recovered and 4 cars detained.
In a minor road traffic accident at 9am this morning on the dual carriageway by Harbour Views, a local hit and drove into the flower bed dividing the roads. Although the driver appeared to be in shock, no serious injuries were recorded.
The Government has this afternoon announced that it is increasing the powers available to officers of the HM Customs and the Royal Gibraltar Police to combat anti-social behaviour linked to the trade in tobacco.
