The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
The Government has announced that it has signed an agreement with Solar Century Africa Limited, a renowned global market leader in the development of solar PV and energy storage projects using smart energy technology and controls, for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a new 14MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the North Mole Power Station (NMPS). The total cost of the project is £16.5 million and follows a competitive tender process which commenced in July of last year.
The Government has roundly condemned the latest comments about Gibraltar from Partido Popular spokesman Esteban González Pons. Number Six says that it is “extremely serious” that a senior Spanish politician should “seek to dehumanise Gibraltar and its people through the use of insulting and vicious language which should have no place in the modern Europe of today.”
The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, has reacted to the evidence session in which Foreign Secretary Rt Hon Lord David Cameron gave evidence to the European Scrutiny Committee, saying he was impressed but not surprised by Lord Cameron’s grasp of the detail of the Gibraltar negotiation but disappointed by the failure by members of the Committee to understand the constitutional relationship between Gibraltar and the UK and the issues that Brexit has created for Gibraltar.
Having pleaded guilty to both charges, a local man has been fined £580 for Possession of a Controlled Class B Drug and £250 for Driving a Motor Vehicle whilst Unfit through Drugs.
