The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
The Government says it considers that the statement by the Opposition which seeks to compare Gibraltar with the British Virgin Islands (BVI) “does not do anybody any favours, in particular not even to the GSD itself.”
A local man has been remanded at HM Prison Windmill Hill by the Magistrates’ Court this morning, after allegedly assaulting a woman last Friday (29 April).
The GSD says the current situation in the British Virgin Islands is a “stark reminder of how abuses of power, corruption and lack of transparency can be corrosive to democracy.”
Response Team officers made a number of arrests for offences including dangerous driving, drugs, sexual assault, actual bodily harm, theft, burglary and several domestic incidents.
