The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
Next week, on the 10th July 2014, it will be the sixth anniversary of the disappearance of Chaim Slim. Chaima, who is now 25 years old, was last seen crossing the frontier into Spain around midnight on the 10th July 2008.
The Royal Gibraltar Police continue their investigation with periodic reviews and carrying out enquiries into her whereabouts. The statement issued by the RGP today states “Any new potential lines of investigation will be pursued”.
Chaima is still listed on Interpol’s Missing Persons database, meaning that the Royal Gibraltar Police would be informed if any information were to be found globally.
The statement continues by saying, “no new information has been forthcoming during the past year”.
The RGP continue to appeal for any information from the General Public regarding the whereabouts of Chaima. Anyone wanting to come forward with any information relating to her should contact the Duty Officer at Police Headquarters on +350 200 12500. Alternatively they can call Women in Need on Telephone no +350 200 42581, a voicemail service is provided daily between 1500hrs to 0800hrs.
There were strong, uncompromising words from Judge Sir Geoffrey Grigson earlier this afternoon as he sentenced the three Marrache brothers to lengthy prison terms after having been found guilty of a multi-million pound fraud.
According to the RGP, the past week has seen a few residential burglaries across Gibraltar, the majority of which are assessed to have been perpetrated by opportunists. In most cases, access has been gained via open doors or windows. Despite this, the RGP stresses that incidents such as these are extremely rare in Gibraltar.
The Fine Arts Association is organising an exhibition with a difference. Under the title “The Fine Arts Summer Show” the exhibition will feature works by a number of accomplished artists from Gibraltar and abroad and opens to the public on the 7th July at The Fine Arts Gallery, Casemates. The exhibition aims to make art more accessible to the general public and all works will be available on a “pay as you go” basis allowing buyers to walk away with their artworks once the purchase has been completed if they so desire. For this purpose artist are encouraged to submit artworks that are “affordably” priced and not exceeding £500.
