Below follows a joint statement on the progress of the EU-UK Agreement in respect of Gibraltar:
European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo met in Brussels on Friday 12 April.
The Environmental Safety Group (ESG) has said that the RFA Mounts Bay, the Royal Navy vessel that is currently in Gibraltar for repairs, is leaving its engine on continuously thereby resulting in air-pollution in the area. The ESG says that, in addition, given the very high noise level of this engine, which is particularly noticeable at night, the situation is “extremely unpleasant and unsatisfactory for many residents in the vicinity.”
The Gibraltar Botanic Gardens’ new 'Bicentenary House' is now open to the public between 10am and 5pm. The house is named to mark the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the gardens which was celebrated yesterday.
