The Leader of the Opposition, Daniel Feetham, and the Chairman of the GSD, Trevor Hammond were invited to visit the area of Lime Kiln Steps by residents to see their "appalling" living conditions.
The annual Summer Nights will be held every Thursday and Saturday as from Saturday 11th July to Saturday 15th August at Casemates Square. As part of the Summer Nights event on Thursday 16th July, Gibraltar Cultural Services will be holding a Book Fair at the venue.
The first ever Mrs Gibraltar Pageant will be held at Ince’s Hall on Saturday 18th July at 21:00. The pageant is open to married women aged 25 to 45.
In line with the Government’s commitment to explore the deployment of marine renewable energy technologies in Gibraltar, the Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Blue Shark Power - an Aquitaine French 'clean tech' company established in 2013, that is currently developing patented technology for the manufacture of high-power marine renewable energy turbines. This exciting development will allow Blue Shark Power to work closely with the Department of the Environment and Climate Change in order to assess the feasibility of installing its marine current turbines in Gibraltar. Initial surveys are expected to commence in Autumn this year and these will take place in different areas of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters.
