The conference, which took place in Brighton, also included an exhibition, demonstrations, workshops, and debates on topics including humanitarian and disaster response, migrant offshore aid stations and the role of non-governmental organisations in search and rescue operations.
Charles Durante, retired English teacher, and art teacher Kristel Turner, have teamed up to present a Dante for our times. The talk will introduce Dante's Divine Comedy, exploring the structure, main incidents, characters, and poetry of this masterpiece of world literature. It will highlight the most moving encounters in the three sections of Dante's poem: the Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. The exhibition will showcase Kristel's compositions, based on her interpretation of the Comedy, but providing Dante's medieval cast with a Gibraltarian setting.
