Commenting on the project, Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham called for these works to be extended to ensure that the Stadium is upgraded to UEFA’s Category 3 standards. The party claims that this would allow the GFA to play its home internationals in Gibraltar and fans would not need to travel to Portugal to watch their team play.
Bayside Sports Centre is set to receive a major remodel as part of the Government’s policy to increase facilities. The project will include upgrades to to the main spectator stands and a new adjacent building. The GFA and GSLA have been working closely with UEFA to implement improvements to changing rooms, develop a new media centre and a ‘doping control station.
The Commissioner of Police Edward Yome and the Gibraltar Defence Police’s Chief Officer Rob Allen have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both organisations.
