Below follows a joint statement on the progress of the EU-UK Agreement in respect of Gibraltar:
European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo met in Brussels on Friday 12 April.
The Minister for Economic Development, Joe Bossano, is travelling to China today to hold meetings with the prospective investor group with regards to the projects that have been under discussion for some time. The first of these has been in the evaluation phase in the first quarter of this year as previously announced.
The Government has said that in the first quarter of 2016, the amount it is owed in rent arrears has fallen from £6,017,341 to £5,756,673. Number Six says that, if rounded up to an annual figure, this would represent a 17.3% reduction adding that this shows that Government measures “have reversed the upward trend and that the arrears are now being brought under control.”
The winner for this year's Spring Festival Logo competition was announced today, and the prize winning logo was designed by software developer Stuart Barea.
Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry for Culture, is organising the Spring Visual Arts Competition. The competition now includes new categories - video, photography and installations.
