The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The GFA says it has taken note of rumours appearing in social media regarding the recent international friendly between Gibraltar and Liechtenstein, suggesting that there were “odd decisions” taken during the game by the match officials and an “abnormally high volume of bets” placed on the game.
Gibraltar International Airport is expected to process a record number of passengers this summer. New routes, and increased frequency of flights on existing routes, will be introduced.
The Minister for Education, Gilbert Licudi, took part in the Nordic Backgammon Open held over the Easter weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Nordic Open is one of the most prestigious backgammon competitions in Europe with many of the world’s best players competing.
