Oct 04 - Gibraltar Finance Centre Represented at Geneva's 'Invest '13' Conference
The Gibraltar Finance Centre Department attended, exhibited and presented at the Invest ’13 conference hosted in Geneva on 18th and 19th September. The Gibraltar Finance team, made up of, Philip Canessa and Michael Ashton, were joined by a large industry representation organised through GFIA. The event is considered the prime conference for the funds industry in Geneva.
During the course of the 2 days Gibraltar had a double frontage display stand at the event and Philip Canessa addressed the conference, “Gibraltar – a unique AIFMD jurisdiction within the EU”. In addition Philip was interviewed by Nicolette De Joncaire a journalist with L'AGEFI (https://www.facebook.com/events/552660051459806/)
Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ivor Lopez presented The Governor and Commander-in-Chief with a Ceremonial Pith Helmet during his final official visit to the Regiment last night.
As a result of an on-going surveillance operation the RGP arrested, on Thursday 3 October 2013 at the Queensway Car Park, seven Spanish nationals on suspicion of being knowingly concerned in the attempted exportation of a commercial quantity of tobacco, as a result of the arrests approximately 15000 cigarettes, a Ford Transit van, a Citroen Picasso, a white Nissan vanette and a Mitsubishi Charisma were seized by the police.
Former soldier, Will Moore has embarked on a 20,000-kilometre challenge that will see him travel from London to Johannesburg on a 125 cc motorbike. In an effort to raise money for injured war soldiers through the Help for Heroes charity.
