Sep 09 - Minister Isola Addresses Hedge Funds Conference
On Wednesday and Thursday of last week, Albert Isola, Minister with responsibility for Financial Services, gave a keynote address at the 17th Hedge Funds World Asia conference, positioning Gibraltar as a gateway to the European Union for Asian funds and hedge funds. The conference was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Hong Kong. Minister Isola also covered the dynamics of Gibraltar's economy, regulatory regime, and competitive personal and corporate taxation as well the Government's absolute commitment to the financial services sector. In the wings of the conference, Minister Isola also spoke with a number of the attendees and answered more specific questions. In addition, Gibraltar Finance were exhibiting at the conference with marketing materials, banners and stand, flanked by full length Gibraltar and Hong Kong flags.
As a result of meetings between the Deputy Chief Minister and retired teachers Ivan Navas and Albert Danino, has set up a visit to the EU institutions in Brussels for a group of fourteen Year 13 students of Bayside, Westside and the College. 
The Ministers have sent their best wishes to all 10 athletes who will be representing Gibraltar in aquatics, bocce and athletics at the forthcoming Special Olympics European Summer Games in Antwerp, Brussels.
