Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
A meeting of the No Negotiated Outcome (NNO) Board chaired jointly by the Minister for the European Neighbourhood Wendy Morton and the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia took place in Gibraltar this afternoon. The role of the Board is to plan for the eventuality of no agreement on the future relationship of Gibraltar with the European Union.
The Government of Gibraltar says it is “pleased” to note the references by the representative of the Kingdom of Spain at the United Nations decolonisation seminar organised in Dominica this year by the UN’s Decolonisation Committee of 24.
This National Day will once again sadly be very different from what we are all traditionally used to. It takes place against the backdrop of a global pandemic that has already taken millions of lives, including 97 of our beloved fellow citizens in Gibraltar.
National Day is a time to reflect on our sense of community, our identity, our rights as a people and on the challenges that lie ahead. It is also a sense to connect with our roots and history.
