Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Following the highly successful launch of the Royal Silver coin series, HM Government of Gibraltar in partnership with the Gibraltar International yesterday released a very exclusive edition of only 20 Gold Proof coins. The coin is a legal tender coin with a face value of £100, containing one troy ounce of 24kt fine gold (99.99%).
The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks the signing of the Armistice to signal the end of World War One “the War to end all Wars”, on the 11th November 1918.
As in previous years, the occasion will be celebrated with a short ceremony at the Lobby of Parliament House. The Deputy Mayor, Kaiane Aldorino GMH, will be leading the Ceremony.
Almost 220 new books, costing around £3000, have been purchased by the Government, for the John Mackintosh Hall Library. The new selection was based on requests from members of the Library and upon consultation of bestseller lists.
On Friday 31 October, British Airways flight BA490 from London Heathrow had to veer off its landing approach to Gibraltar, while 10-15 miles out, as a result of the presence of a Spanish military P3 aircraft which was operating in the area.
