Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
On Saturday 21st September, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment will once again be exercising its Freedom of the City of Gibraltar with a March along Main Street. As the March passes the Piazza at 1:00 p.m., His Worship the Mayor, Cmdr Anthony Lima has graciously accepted to take a salute.

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau have issued a set of stamps featuring Endangered Animals.
This is the third set issued for this very popular series of stamps. The set comprises of 6 x 42p stamps depicting the Asiatic Cheetah, African Penguin, Atlantic Bluefun Tuna, Chinese Alligator, Red-crowned Crane and Leatherback Sea Turtle.
The illustrations were specially commissioned for these stamps and were produced by Jonathan Pointer, a UK based wildlife artist. Jonathan Pointer is renowned around the globe for his talents as a wildlife artist and his work has a traditional feel, combining realism and a strong sense of narrative.
Lieutenant-General Sir James Benjamin Dutton KCB CBE has been appointed Governor of Gibraltar in succession to Vice-Admiral Sir Adrian Johns KCB CBE. Sir James will take up his appointment during December 2013.
Sir James completed a full career of 37 years in the Royal Marines. His last ten years were dominated by Iraq and Afghanistan, either serving in those countries or dealing with the policy and operational issues from London and Washington DC. On retirement in 2010 he joined the Bechtel Corporation and has spent the last two and a half years as the Programme Director in Gabon in West Africa, latterly as the Director-General of the infrastructure development agency working directly for the Presidency.
