Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Government has today taken note of the Spanish authorities attempts to deny export permission for the supply of rock, sand and aggregates destined for projects in Gibraltar.
The Government has already identified sourced alternative sources of supplies and will shortly be finalising these alternative arrangements.
Commenting on the Chief Minister’s visit to London this week, a spokesman for the UK Government today explained that it reflects the strength of bonds between the UK and Gibraltar, and the UK Government’s commitment to stand by the people of Gibraltar.
Following a statement released this morning by the Government, regarding Chief Minister Fabian Picardo briefing Opposition Leader, Daniel Feetham, on the ongoing issues with Spain, Mr. Feetham has noted that in the few statements that have been made by his party regarding the dispute he has tried to be ‘candid but measured’.
At the kind invitation of Mr Scaniglia-Jones, President of St Bernard’s Catholic Social Club, a total of approximately 26 service users from St Bernadette’s Resource Centre and Dr Giraldi Home and accompanying staff were invited to a luncheon at the Club’s premises at the Catholic Community Centre today in order to celebrate fair week.
