Lengthy frontier queues have developed throughout the afternoon. At 2pm, the estimated queuing time was 45 minutes. This quickly changed and, by 5pm, the estimated time was over 1.5 hours.

By 6pm, some 6,818 people which is 31.49% of eligible voters had come out to vote in today’s by-election. By this time in the evening during the December 2011 General Election, 13,084 people (60.26%) had already voted.
Five TA soldiers from The Royal Gibraltar Regiment were recently presented their promotions by Officer Commanding Major Ernest ‘Tito’ Danino.
Colour Sergeant Hernandez was promoted to Warrant Officer Class 2 and will become the new Company Sergeant Major. Sergeant Hitchcock received his Colour Sergeant and is a Platoon Commander. Corporal Vinas was promoted to Sergeant and is now the new Training Sergeant within the Recruiting Team. Lance Corporal Vazquez who is the Detachments Commander for B Company was promoted to Corporal and Private Consigliero received his Lance Corporal and is now the Section Second in Command.
Marking the 70th anniversary of General Sikorski’s death in Gibraltar, in 1943, a series of events were hosted in Gibraltar today. Polish Prime Minister General Sikorski’s death came about as a result of the joint Nazi Germany and Soviet Invasion of Poland.
