European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
The Government has issued the following statement on the payments allegedly made to Mr Edwin Reyes’ family:
- Auditor has confirmed exactly what Govt said
- Legal advice being sought on propriety of payments
- New evidence has come to light
The Government notes that Mr Feetham has today sought clarification from the Principal Auditor of some aspects of the Report into the payments made to a company of Mr Edwin Reyes’ family.
In a separate press statement, RAF Gibraltar have issued the following:
At 1048am today the BA Flight to London Heathrow was held on the runway for approximately 12 minutes by Air Traffic Control in Seville to allow Spanish aircraft to pass by in Spanish air space.
This morning, four ‘Matador’ aircraft of the Spanish Air Force entered Gibraltar’s airspace from the north-west. It is believed that the aircraft were flying towards the Juan Carlos 1 aircraft carrier which, at the time, was about 12 nautical miles south- east of the Rock.
The Government has issued the following statement to clarify and repeat its position on the Sunborn allegations:
The Government notes the statement issued this afternoon by Mr Feetham’s GSD suggesting that the Government’s replies to the questions it has raised about the Sunborn project are anything other than totally clear.
