Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Monday will act as the host of Gibraltar’s first ever ‘Christmas Extravaganza’, which will culminate a three day shopping event organised by the Ministry for Commercial Affairs in conjunction with the Ministry for Culture, GFSB and Chamber of Commerce.
The event will begin in Saturday 21st with free rides for children at John Mackintosh Square from 10am – 7pm.
The RGP Drug Squad has arrested and charged 25-year-old local man, Karl Sene, of Renown House Laguna Estate for possess of 96 grams of Cannabis Resin and 6.5 grams of Herbal Cannabis.
The City Fire Brigade Fire Safety Department has informed the public that the use of Sky Lanterns, also known as Chinese Sky Lanterns, is not permitted in Gibraltar.
The Force claims that Sky Lanterns present a serious fire hazard when used inappropriately. They should not be used in built-up areas or within 5 miles of an airport or in coastal areas where lanterns may be interpreted as a distress signal. Clearly, this includes the whole of Gibraltar.
Responding to questions in the House of Lords this week, The Conservative baroness Warsi told Lord Luce that the EU Commission had expressed its thanks for all the information on the Gibraltar Spain frontier delays that the UK and Gibraltar provided before, during and after the technical visit. The question asked whether the Commission had taken account of the evidence produced by the Gibraltar Government, of the flow of traffic at the frontier.
