Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Users of the Plater Youth Club recently held a fundraising raffle outside Morrisons, in order to raise funds for the club’s on-going programme of events. The prize, valued at £250.00 in gifts, vouchers and lottery tickets, went to lucky winner Adrienne Colombo with ticket number 072.
Ten Territorial Army soldiers of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment received recent promotions from CO Lieutenant Colonel Ivor Lopez boosting them to the positions of Sergeant, Corporal and Lance Corporal.
Commenting on the promotions the CO insisted that the Regiment’s Reservists are incredibly dedicated and are all part of demanding civilian professions including, the civil service, fire-fighting and nursing.
2013 proved to be yet another busy year for the RGP’s Charity Committee. Over £15000 was raised by its members throughout the year. A significant proportion of the funds were raised under the auspices of the annual Mini Olympiad held in October. This popular sporting event, held under the banner of ‘LOVE LIFE, LIVE SPORT’, brings together schoolchildren, Police Officers, teachers, sporting associations and parents alike.
