May 15 - Wii Fit for Hospital Physiotherapy Department

rgp wii donationThe RGP Charity committee yesterday donated a Nintendo Wii and a Wii Fit Plus to the Physiotherapy Department at St. Bernard’s Hospital.

The devices were presented by Commissioner Eddie Yome and Charity Committee member Inspector William Gomez and received by Caroline Abrines, Physiotherapy Services Manager and Gail Carreras, Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist. They were accompanied by Kyle and Michelle Porro, aged eight who look forward to making use of the donated equipment in due course.

May 15 HQBF - Welcome Home Boys

HQBF Royal Gibraltar RegimentSoldiers from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment returned home yesterday following a month long exercise in the UK.

The exercise know as Jebel Tarik is held annually in Brecon, Wales and is a mandated training camp which qualifies both Regular and TA Soldiers on all weapon systems.  The exercise conducts live firing training but there is also plenty of conventional dry training using blank ammunition.

Major David King was the officer in charge of the exercise was pleased with how well the exercise went but more so that morale remained high throughout.

May 15 - Opposition double standards on parliamentary procedure and floating hotel

Gibraltar GovernmentThe double-standards of the Opposition are evident once again in the attitude that they have adopted to the publication of information by the Government once a meeting of Parliament has been called.

Their view is that the Government should not publish information in statements or otherwise which may impact on a question that is to be answered in Parliament.

However, they have no difficulty in asking questions in public on issues which are already the subject of Parliamentary questions which they have previously just tabled themselves. This shows that they apply one set of standards to the Government and another set of standards to themselves by proceeding to do very much the same thing that they complain about.
