Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, and the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia – together with the Attorney General, Michael Llamas and the Financial Secretary, Albert Mena – have held meetings in Gibraltar over the last 48 hours with Lindsay Appleby, British Ambassador to the EU, Robbie Bulloch, FCDO Director, EU-Gibraltar negotiations and Hugh Elliot, British Ambassador to Spain.
At about 10:25 this morning and acting on information received, the RGP Marine Section accompanied by GDP and HM Customs, deployed to an area approximately one mile south of Europa Point where they intercepted a 3.5 metre RHIB carrying eight Moroccan males. The males were taken to the RGP Marine Base where they were checked by paramedics and arrested on suspicion of being Non Gibraltarians in Gibraltar without any valid permit or certificates. They were then taken to New Mole House.
The Minister for Business, Vijay Daryanani, has met with the BID task force to discuss the ballot procedure and how things will progress if there is a “Yes” vote for the BID.
