Nov 12 - Gibraltar Methodist Minister Climbs Kilimajaro to Raise Funds for Vine Trust
The seventh and final member of the Vine Trust Gibraltar work party team has returned home from Tanzania. Methodist Minister, Fidel Patron joined the other six work-party volunteers from Gibraltar to help on community projects near Moshi in northern Tanzania. During the two-week long trip the team worked on two schools, which are attended by a large number of orphans, and built a home for a disabled father and his family. As well as lending his support to the construction work, Fidel also opted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro during his trip.
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, is to embark on a series of speeches to influential and academic audiences in Spain, as part of a campaign to explain HM Government of Gibraltar’s policy towards Spain.
The Equality Rights Group has today launched a HIV/AIDS awareness campaign in association with events company Omi Palone, and as a lead-up to World Aids Day on 1 December. Throughout the month, a range of posters debunking basic and incorrect information on HIV/AIDS will be distributed ]as a first step in properly informing the public’.
With Guardia Civil checks at the Frontier once again taking a turn for the worse, queues have been exceptionally long over the past few days. Yesterday afternoon saw a hefty pedestrian queue start to form at around 4pm. During the evening, tailbacks for Motorbikes and cars reached the two hours mark, and this afternoon the RGP has claimed that the estimated queuing time at 2pm was 4 hours.
