Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Further to the result of the referendum on abortion, Samantha Sacramento, as the Minister with responsibility for Justice, appointed yesterday, July 15th, as the date that the Act comes into force in order to permit abortions to be carried out by Gibraltar Health Authority doctors at St. Bernard’s Hospital in certain, tightly defined circumstances.
Troops will be conducting training exercises in Gibraltar during the period 15th-22nd July. The troops will be exercising in a number of areas, both on the MOD estate and in the wider Gibraltar community. In addition to daytime activity, a number of exercises will take place during the hours of darkness.
A new version of Flavius – a play by Gibraltarian playwright Julian Felice about the 1988 IRA shooting – will be the focus of a five-day Research & Development project at Middlesex University.
