Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The newly named ‘Temple Way’, leading up to the Hindu temple and Engineer’s Lane car park, was yesterday inaugurated by the Chief Minister, in the presence of a number of members of the Hindu community in Gibraltar.
Ahead of the opening of the Calpe Conference 2014 tomorrow morning, a steering committee meeting for Gibraltar’s UNESCO World Heritage bid was held at the Wessex Lounge of the Gibraltar International Airport. Speaking to the press, Professor Clive Finlayson Gibraltar Museum Director noted that the group, which includes other members of the Museum’s team, Government representatives, members of the Heritage Trust and GONHS, meets every quarter.
A young couple will take on the challenge of what is described as “the toughest footrace on Earth” next year as they head off to Morocco to compete in the Marathon des Sables for charity.
