European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for ForeignAffairs José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels on Thursday 16th May.
The Government has said that the GSD statement to the effect that the Gibraltar Consultative Council is somehow an "alternative government" is a “very helpful indication of how wrong” Mr Feetham and Mr Vasquez are about what the Council will do.
Number Six has said that the press release from Roy Clinton on the meeting which is being arranged by the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, is “disrespectful of Parliament and of Parliamentary procedures.”
The GSD has asked the Government to explain why matters “were left to deteriorate so badly” at the Ministry for Sports, Culture, Heritage and Youth, that an audit inspection by the Principal Auditor led to “very serious concerns” being expressed. That inspection apparently revealed anomalies and inconsistencies in cash books, in payment vouchers and multiple discrepancies in leave files.
In connection with an ongoing investigation by detectives from the Money Laundering Investigation Unit, a 48-year-old Russian man and a 44-year-old Norwegian woman have both been arrested on suspicion of Money Laundering and of Carrying out a Controlled Activity without a Licence.
