Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Following GSLP By-election candidate, Albert Isola’s win last week and his swearing in as a Minister of the Gibraltar Government, Chief Minister Fabian Picardo this morning announced that Mr. Isola would take over the ministerial portfolio for Financial Services and Gaming.
These responsibilities were formally held by Justice and Education Minister, Gilbert Licudi. The Government insists that the Cabinet was advised this morning of the minor reshuffle of portfolios. All other ministerial portfolios are to remain the same.
The Gibraltar Botanic Gardens will be running a weekly fun morning for children as part of the Summer Activities Programme. The children will be able to spend time in the beautiful gardens, exploring and learning about the natural world whilst having fun with arts, crafts, adventure and gardening.
The Gibraltar National Dance Team has organised ‘A Dance Extravaganza’ to be held at the Ince’s Hall Theatre on Friday 30th August 2013 at 8pm. Produced and directed by GNDO President, Seamus Byrne, the extravaganza will feature performers from both Gibraltar and Spain.
The event will act as a fundraising event in order for the National Team to be able to compete at the forthcoming World Show Dance Championships in November, and the World Ballet, Modern and Jazz Championships in December 2013.
Last week Gibraltar won the Gold Medal at the Dance World Cup staged at the spectacular Brighton Dome in England. The Gold medal was won by Nicole Victor in the Junior Show Dance and Jazz solo sections with a piece ‘My Immortal’ and choreographed by herself.
The 10 strong team competed against thousands of dancers from 26 countries and 5 continents and Gibraltar was represented in the Mini Kids, Children, Junior and Adult divisions.
