Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Each year the GSLA runs the Sports Leaders UK Junior Sports Leadership Award during the Summer Sports and Leisure Programme. The 7-day, 37 hour course aims to build confidence and teach 14 to 15 year olds, communication and leadership skills and techniques needed to plan and lead sports sessions in the future.
Spanish press reports suggesting that Spain is to object to the EU over Gibraltarians fishing for tuna ‘in contravention of internationally agreed quotas’ have caused the Government to insist that they highly value protection of the environment and marine life, with particular emphasis on the recently dismissed complaints in relation to the artificial reef, bunkering activity in BGTW and the creation of the Eastside reclamation.
