Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The GSD says that the Government’s latest statement on the power station is just another example of Mr Picardo’s “hypocrisy” and the “do as I say but not as I do” philosophy that it claims is epitomizing his tenure as Chief Minister.
This weekend Gibraltar will host the Glasgow 2014 Queen’s Baton Relay. The baton arrives from Malta the 65th of its 71 Commonwealth destinations with Europe the 6th and final rotation before the Games this summer. Gibraltar will provide an integral link in welcoming the baton as part of the most engaging relay in history. The baton is currently travelling through Cyprus and will be met by Miss Gibraltar 2013 Maroua Kharbouch on Saturday morning in Casemates Square. From there it will proceed to the Bayside Sports Complex.
His Excellency the Governor Sir James and Lady Dutton paid a visit to AquaGib’s offices and the Moorish Castle waterworks this morning. Sir James met staff and senior managers at the company’s headquarters in Leanse Place. He was briefed by Managing Director Derek Cano about the company’s history and was given an overview of its operations including billing, customer care and distribution network maintenance. Sir James spoke to staff about their duties and their commitment to providing efficient customer service.
