Following considerable refurbishment work and other improvements at the John Mackintosh Hall, its various facilities will now be open on Saturdays. This will be of particular interest to users of the library and of the Library Café.
A series of drug awareness talks with the theme “Drugs, your choice of life.” delivered to Year 7 children by the RGP’s School Liaison Officers and Mr John Montegriffo of the Care Agency have culminated in an inter-school football tournament. Yesterday the Year 7 girls took to the field at the Hargreaves five-a-side pitch.
The Minister for Europe, David Lidington, has written to the Defenders of Gibraltar Group clarifying his position on the frequent Guardia Civil incursions. In the letter, Mr Lidington says that he attaches the “highest priority to the safety and liberty of all Gibraltarians” citing as an example of the UK’s commitment the summoning several months ago of the Spanish ambassador to the Foreign Office following the attempted apprehension of a Gibraltarian boat.
The Minister for Traffic, Paul Balban, said that the Government’s traffic survey has almost been completed. He said that there were only a few more surveys to be conducted on bus routes. In total, over 6,300 roadside interviews have been conducted. Around 700 cyclists and pedestrians were interviewed, 2,500 have responded to the car parks questionnaires and a further 1,000 people have been interviewed on the bus routes and another 1,000 have answered questions during household interviews. The survey has covered all road users including visitors from across the frontier.
