June 04 - Plater Youth Club Activities

plater youth A number of trainee volunteers from the Plater Youth Club, including Sandra Martinez and Carolina Llamusi-Silbermann, have recently completed a training programme and have since been carrying out workshops for youth club members, including a cooking and arts and crafts programme.

Another volunteer, namely Jasmin Young recently organised a visit to the Cat Welfare Society which proved to be a rewarding experience as the young people became familiar with all the great work that goes on at the cat shelter. Youth club youngsters also learnt about animal cruelty and how much time and effort goes into caring for stray, abandoned or sick cats.

June 04 - Seamus Byrne Becomes IDO Adjudicator

seamus byrneThe Gibraltar National Dance Organisation have today announced that President of the Organisation, Seamus Byrne, is now qualified as an International Adjudicator for the world governing body the International Dance Organisation.

Commenting on his new status, Seamus noted that he was delighted. He added that it is always a pleasure to be involved in one way or another, with this wonderful World governing body. ‘The GNDO, as the official body for international dance in Gibraltar, has being very committed to the IDO for the last 32 years. This achievement reinstates the GNDO’s position to continue to work hard in Gibraltar and internationally for the benefit of our local dance fraternity.’

June 04 - Key2Gib Tourist App Launched with Government Support

key 2 gib Launched yesterday by Minister for Tourism and Consumer Affairs, was Gibraltar’s first tourist app of its kind, developed by Young Enterprise students, Develop I.T. The app is aimed predominantly at the local market as it includes live flight information from the Gibraltar International Airport, live radio streams, and updated bus routes.

The app is currently free and runs on advertising sales and the support of the Gibraltar Tourist Board. At the moment, it is available for all IOS and Android devices but the team is looking into the possibility of developing the app with Windows devices.
