Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
This weekend Gibraltar commemorated the Battle of Britain with a series of events. The RAF building found to the south of the runway was renamed The Rene Mouchotte building in memory of a French Air Force Pilot who died following the Battle of Britain. The unveiling was carried out by Air Chief Marshall Sir Stuart Peach. The event was attended by TV Presenter Jan Leeming, who recently produced a documentary on Rene Mouchette, for the BBC.
The GHA’s record department has this week been relocated to another area of the building. The former site on the ground floor was too small for the number of records kept, leading to files being crammed onto shelves and getting damaged easily.
A limited number of £20 Churchill Silver Coins are now available at the Treasury Department at 206 Main Street and at the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau at the Main Street Post Office. The cost per coin is £25 and sales are currently limited to 10 coins per person.
Industrial Relations Specialists, Politicians, Employers, Government Officials and Unite members gather to discuss critical issues in Gibraltar this week. A two-day conference and workshop organized by Unite Gibraltar Branch has brought together 18 key specialists to develop more understanding around collaborative working arrangements between unions, government and employers.
