Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
As announced by the Minister for Health, Care and Business, Gemma Arias-Vasquez, during the Gibraltar Society of Accountants Annual Dinner last month, His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar is today launching a public consultation on the audit threshold for companies in Gibraltar.
The GSD has said that the admission by the Chief Minister that he may use the new powers in the Inquiries Bill to restrict information being received by the public or to ensure that hearings are held in private is a “stunning development.”
Following concerns expressed to the Minster with responsibility for Public Utilities, Gemma Arias-Vasquez, the Government would like to clarify that there has been no change whatsoever to the policy on the Pensioner Utility Grant which is applied to AquaGib and GibElec utility bills.
