European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Minister for Culture, Steven Linares officially launched the annual Gibraltar Spring festival this afternoon. He noted that the programme included a number of events organised by the Ministry for Culture, and others that were privately set up. The programme includes a Henry 8th puppet show, a day dedicated to cycling for charity, and a spring art exhibition.
Minister Linares also revealed the winner of the spring festival logo competition. The winning entry was designed by Joelle Ferrar of Westside School. 10 of the submitted entries were granted as highly commended and each participant received a £20 voucher.
This morning, Lady Johns, patron of the Convent Christmas Fair Committee, presented a cheque of £20,000 to the Chief Minister on behalf of the Diamond Jubilee Trust fund. Mr. Picardo insisted that the money would be spread out between a number of charities.
The Ministry of Culture has awarded the tender for the Organisation, Production and Staging of the Gibraltar Music Festival to be held on 7th September 2013 to Word of Mouth and Axel Media. They have also been awarded the contract for the following three years.
