Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
A clinic specialising in prostate diseases, and in particular screenings for cancer, was launched officially by the Health Minister Dr. Cortes, in the presence of representatives of the Prostate Cancer Support Group and Kusuma Trust, who provided funding for the project. The Minister was further joined by Andrew Sene, a consultant and Urologist at the St.Bernard’s Hospital who explained that the new state of the art equipment found in the clinic allowed for more advanced check ups.
The GSD says it notes the statement made by Minister Isola yesterday in which he claimed that the GSD Opposition “puts the party before the interests of this community.”
The GSD says it welcomes the announcement by Government of the new flight connections with Gibraltar through Easyjet and emphasises, in this context, the significant investment made by the GSD Government in the new airport terminal. The GSD says that, when in Government, it recognised the real value in ensuring that Gibraltar has “proper and effective transport links with the outside world.” The airport was identified by the party, when in power, as a “linchpin” in providing such links.
