The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia has said that although Gibraltar prefers a treaty to govern our relationship with the European Union, there are fundamental red lines which the Government is not prepared to cross in order to achieve it. Dr Garcia was speaking in Brighton today at the annual party conference of the U.K. Liberal Democrats.
Tourism Minister Neil Costa this morning officially inaugurated Sandy Bay following an extensive period of large-scale refurbishments that have been carried out at the beach over the last year.
Major coastal protection and regeneration works have completely transformed Sandy Bay from its almost non-existent state, into a sizeable beach, laid and enlarged with approximately 50,000 tons of sand imported from Layounne in the Western Sahara.
Following an investigation into damage that was caused to a lift at Engineer’s car park earlier this month a 36 year old local man was arrested yesterday.
This morning, the Chief Minister met with Dr. Liam Fox, UK MP and former Secretary for Defence in the UK’s Conservative Cabinet. Dr. Fox’s visit was not one for business or politics, but rather a personal visit to Gibraltar, which happened to include a meeting with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
