European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
The Government says that it is incredible that the Opposition should complain about the parking situation in and around the City Centre when the existing problem is linked directly to what it describes as their “lack of activity” on this front during the 15 years that they were in office.
The Government of Gibraltar has noted with regret, the decision taken by the Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) to close its Norwich and Peterborough branch in Gibraltar.
A statement released by No.6 said, ‘this is particularly so given that Parliament enacted the YBS Act, at their request following representations received by the Minister that the passing of the Act would not impact on staff, operations and customers in Gibraltar. This, clearly and unfortunately, has turned out not to be the case.
Reacting to the sudden news that Norwich and Peterborough Building Society is to close down by the end of the year, the Gibraltar Social Democrats have said that this is very bad news for Gibraltar coming so soon after the announcement by Barclays Bank.
