European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Following the tabling of the Fishing Report commissioned by the Government in Parliament yesterday, the Opposition has had an opportunity of reviewing its contents. It intends, however, to carry out a more thorough review over the coming days.
Whilst the report appears to represent a detailed analysis of matters as wide ranging as, for example, fishing stocks, information relating to these, the relevant history and EU and international conventions, the important ‘elephant in the room’ issue for the public is whether there will be a solution found to the current uncertainty.
Commanding Officer Lt Col Colin Risso presented two Long Service and Good Conduct (LS & GC) Medals today. The LS & GC medal is awarded to personnel who have demonstrated 15 years of exemplary and irreproachable conduct.
The Commissioner of Police notes the publication and content of the fishing report: “The Active Management of Marine Living Resources in the Waters around Gibraltar” and the related press release issued on the 4th of June by the Government.
The Minister for Culture, Steven Linares, recently travelled to Reykjavik, Iceland, to attend the opening of an exhibition by the organisation ‘Little Constellation,’ of which Gibraltar is now a member. The exhibition attracted over 700 visitors in its first two days.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief Culture Officer, Yvette Zarb-Bensusan and Gino Sanguinetti, Manager of the Fine Arts Gallery, who delivered a talk at the artists’ workshops which took place over the same weekend.
